Lavender~Milk Cleanser

Make-up Remover

I've been trying a new homemade cleanser, instead of using mint, I decided to try lavender and milk with some of the lovely lavender I was given recently.

1 small cup (or just over half a mug) of full fat organic milk
1 heaped tbsp lavender flowers

Mix the lavender and milk together, and bring to the boil in a small pan.
Then remove from the heat, and cover the pan with a lid or small plate and leave to cool.
When cooled strain the lavender out with muslin/fine cotton or a fine tea strainer.

Put the lovely home made cleanser in a bottle.. glass is best :)

Apply liberally to face with cotton wool.
This is also excellent for removing make-up and is very gentle on the eye area.
Rinse the face with lukewarm water afterwards and pat dry.

This wonderful homemade cleanser usually lasts about a week if kept in the fridge.

Milk contains lactic acid which is a gentle exfoliant, its also a good source of vitamins A & D.. so nourishes the complexion, and is a wonderful soother for dry, itchy skin.
Lavender has wonderful cleansing and toning properties! It’s very soothing and calming, especially good for sensitive, dry or irritated skin, it’s great for soothing red inflamed skin and is an excellent wound healer with its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, so is good for any of those monthly outbreaks too!

It also smells divine and is such a gentle, natural, pleasure to use ♥

Give it a try... if you do try it I’d love to hear what you think!

Mmmh, will have to give this a go. Lavender is one of the few things that will grow in my garden :)

Hi Jasmine, it's worth trying, especially if you can use what you have growing! I've been cleansing with different mixes of milk cleanser, trying out different herbs, for months now and it really is a very effective.. and its great knowing exactly whats in it.. no slathering on of nasty chemicals that lurk products ;)

Oh, that must feel and smell lovely. I never end up making these things because they spoil so quickly. It just ends up going to waste around me. I do prefer to make lotions/potions that last a month or more. But I love that others are doing it! It's great to see.

FUN. Usually the home made face products involve a bit more work and product than I am able to commit to, but this I could definitely do... if I found some lavender flowers. I think perhaps our local farmer's market has some, and I will be practicing yoga there tomorrow morning!! :) Perfect!
I will stop by and let you know how it went (perhaps a posting on the process? :) )
